"Águas de março" in Irish green
In 2003, the duo recorded a version of “Águas de Março” for the movie Goldfish Memory, a home production, that is a must hear. The song was originally written by Jobim either in Portuguese and in English in 1972, due to the huge success of bossa nova abroad. It`s hard enough to sing the song in the mother tongue, let alone in someone else`s language! That`s what Rice and Hannigan did. One can only wonder who was the tormented soul to teach them how to pronounce every single word in Portuguese. The result is obviously filled with a delightful accent, but the effort claims for the applause of the ones who can really manage such a complex language. As far as I`m concerned, the task was sweetly accomplished.
And here`s to your ears, Águas de Março with Damien Rice and Lisa Hanningan.

Hi, Leticia!
You know that I am fan of Bossa Nova, my friend! I started the day with the right foot … the music is beautiful! I love it that version of Damien Rice and Lisa Hanningan. Most legal is that they managed to sing sing in Portuguese. The accent has left the music with a colorful intimate and delicate. I am a fan of Damien and the songs he does. I am not Irish, but I love the green! Greetings to the old continent!
Kisses,
=]

q lindo…
Hi dear!
Isn’t that song just great or what? Águas de Março, in Portuguese is already a must hear, like you said. But now I realize it’s still a must hear in any language. Actually, in any accent, lol! But anyway, what a nice voice and melody they could give to the song.
But you gotta agree with me that those Irish people are among the best singers in the world: have you ever heard The Corrs? o/
Behave yourself, sweetheart!
Eu gostei muito dessa versão… A música é bela no original e assim ficará em qualquer língua. Ouvi certa vez uma francesa e digo que ficou divina.
Palmas para os intépretes. Sotaque gostoso de ouvir…
