“You wanted the best, you got the best!!!”

You don’t have to be a KISS fan to feel chills up your spine when you hear this. But every KISS fan knows what’s coming up next. Yeah, the hottest ones, the four studs themselves will be coming up on stage shortly after the sentence is completed: “the hottest band in the world: KIIIISS!!!” When they do appear, usually on time, we all go wild or at least the ones who’ve actually been through the experience.

I myself did, back in 1994, for the MONSTERS OF ROCK concert, in Pacaembú Stadium, São Paulo. What a blast! I could not believe those guys I’d seen, frightened (yes, I used to dread Gene) through TV eleven years before, were right in front of me (pretty close to the stage line) alive, kicking and rock and rolling! I could even forgive when, after that “disgusting” (for me, at least) strippers performance for “Take it off”, Gene actually echoed the male crowd by shouting out (on the microphone!) the word for the female sexual organ loud and clear (the exact worst version of the term).

And it’s on behalf of us, brazucas, “orphans” of a concert date for the new tour that I write this text.KISS has recently started a new world tour to celebrate its 35th anniversary. The KISS ALIVE 35 WORLD TOUR had its kick off in Melbourne, Australia, on March 16, right after the Australian Grand Prix, at Albert Park. Then, two more concerts were held, in Brisbane and Sydney and the last one in Wellington, New Zealand. After the Australia/New Zealand leg of the tour, the plans are to take over Europe once more with 30 concerts in 18 countries confirmed to this very date (starting 05/09 in Germany through 06/28, in Dessel, Belgium). In Germany alone six concerts are already scheduled.

There are no dates for the U.S or any other place, such as Japan (where the band has a huge number of fans) and Brazil (they’ve been here three times before, 83’, 94’ and ’99). Tickets for the European tour are being sold online as well at KISS official site www.kissonline.com and they’ve gotten incredible marks, like selling out Helsinki’s presentation in only 9 minutes, according to Matti Martikainen, from the KISS Army in Finland.

It seems the original plans were indeed to perform only in Australia and Europe. But what good is a world tour without the rest of the world? Fans in Brazil are relentless, they want the band around once and all times more! There’s an online petition going on and there’ve been over 4560 signatures (including mine) so far. The signing began in early February (only two months ago) and it gets longer every day.

Fans from all over the country have signed and the petition is going to be sent on to all official websites (band and members), urging for a date here. Gene Simmons himself has already planted a possibility by telling fans to keep an eye on kissonline.com because everything is possible and there are yet many dates to be defined. Let’s just hope Gene is up to something (as he usually is) and an actual presentation is being negotiated undercover.Meanwhile, let’s do what’s in our hands to do.
